Feasibility study launched
At the beginning of September, a comprehensive feasibility study was launched, which the city of Hof and the district of Hof are conducting for Hof-Plauen Regional Airport in collaboration with experts from industry and academia. The aim of the study is to identify concrete approaches and business models for the further development of the airport in order to reduce its structural deficit and make it fit for the future.
The study is being conducted by Aviation Capacity Resources (ACR Group), a consulting firm renowned in the aviation industry. Independent scientific support is being provided by Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. The study examines realistic development options for Hof-Plauen Airport, analyzes their opportunities, and finally derives recommendations for action.
“Hof-Plauen Airport is an important pillar of infrastructure for our region, and we want to carefully explore its potential,” explains Mayor Eva Döhla. District Administrator Dr. Bär adds: “We want to explore the opportunities for our region that arise in particular from new technical possibilities.”
The interdisciplinary project team of industry experts and professors will actively involve many relevant stakeholders in its investigations. Special attention will be paid to the regional economy.
The results and final report of the feasibility study are expected in spring 2026.
