New apron markings

Our rectangular apron is not known to be the ideal shape for an apron, especially when it comes to optimal space utilisation and taxiability.

For this reason, together with our partner project airport , we have come up with a new parking and taxiing concept that takes into account the best possible utilisation of parking positions for different aircraft sizes, which will be accessible via clear and simple taxi paths/guidelines.

The markings are designed and measured in accordance with ICAO and NfL standards.

Note on utilisation:

To ensure that the parking spaces can be used effectively and that the taxiways are free of obstacles, it is essential to ensure that the vehicle is parked directly at the parking position (yellow/orange crossbar) and not metres in advance so that the vehicle is within the parking space boundaries (red markings). This also applies to lorries after unloading and interim parking!

Below you can see the new layout, the red markings represent the parking space boundaries.

For noise and environmental protection reasons, the use of a GPU is mandatory as follows:

  • 10 min. after reaching the parking position
  • 10 minutes before the scheduled off-block time (EOBT) or engine start.

If no GPU is available, the APU may also be used if instructed. The airport operator reserves the right to charge the pilot in the event of non-compliance.
