No further increase in air traffic, but the trend was maintained - this result for the 2023 financial year was presented at the advisory board meeting of Hof-Plauen Airport.
The 2023 financial year closed with a minimal decline in traffic of 5.0% to 8,640 aircraft movements. A total of 10,847 people used the airport as an arrival or departure destination.
"The aviation industry continues to recover throughout Europe, which also had positive effects for us in 2023 despite the slight decline in traffic," says Airport Managing Director Ralf Kaußler. Specifically, revenue totalled 3.0 million euros, with the core business of flight operations making the largest contribution to income with a total of 1.9 million euros.
The income is offset by expenses totalling around 3.56 million euros. These are made up of inflationary increases, but in particular also investments made. For example, three hangar roofs were completely renovated to make them more energy-efficient. Investments were also made in runway lighting, the grass taxiway was built and work began on the construction of a hangar for the vehicle fleet.
Managing Director Kaußler ventures a cautious forecast for the current year 2024. "The year 2024 has developed well, especially in the last month. We have already seen a slight increase in traffic compared to the previous year." Commercial traffic is also developing positively. Another business airline was recently attracted to the Hof site. And a contract extension was also signed with the Hungarian cargo airline Fleetair International FKT.
